Nashville Best Of 2026 · Best Dive Bar
Santa’s Pub
A mural-covered double-wide trailer, Christmas lights all year long, $2 beers, and karaoke every single night. Often called the king of Nashville dive bars, Santa’s Pub is our pick for the best dive bar in Music City.
The Verdict
Why Santa’s Earns the Title
Every city has dive bars, but only Nashville has Santa’s Pub. Tucked away just south of downtown, this double-wide trailer is decked out in Christmas decorations 365 days a year and covered in murals inside and out. It’s cash only and beer only, with cheap cans and bottles and absolutely no pretense.
The real magic happens at the mic. Karaoke runs every single night, and in a city full of professional musicians, you never know who might step up to sing next. Locals, tourists, and the occasional celebrity all pack into its three narrow rooms for a night that feels like pure, unfiltered Nashville.

The Experience
How to Do Santa’s Right
Bring cash, pick your song, and leave your inhibitions at the door.
Nightly Karaoke
Karaoke starts at 7 pm every night (9 pm on Sundays). Get your name in early, pick a crowd-pleaser, and remember the house rule: no cussing on the mic.
Cheap, Cold Beer
Santa’s has no liquor license, so it’s beer and seltzers only, starting at just $2. PBR is the unofficial house favorite.
Sunday House Band
Every Sunday from 7 to 9 pm, the house band takes over before karaoke kicks off, adding a dose of live country to your weekend.
The Story
The King of Nashville Dive Bars
The double-wide trailer at 2225 Bransford Avenue has operated as a bar since 1963, under names like Jerry’s, Somewhere Else, and Eddie’s. At one point it even served as a construction hub for homes being built nearby.
It became Santa’s Pub in 2011, named for owner Denzel Irwin, whose long white beard earned him the nickname from his grandson. As redevelopment has swept through the surrounding neighborhood, Irwin has repeatedly said he won’t sell, keeping one of Nashville’s most beloved dives right where it belongs.
“Beer only, cash only … and no cussin’ on the mic!”
