Nashville Best Of 2026 · Best Line Dancing
Nashville Palace
A big wooden dance floor, live country bands, and weekly lessons, just up the road from the Grand Ole Opry. Where Randy Travis once washed dishes, Nashville Palace is our pick for the best place to line dance in Nashville.
The Verdict
Why the Palace Earns the Title
Broadway has plenty of places to two-step, but for real country dancing, locals head out to Music Valley. Nashville Palace has been serving up traditional country music and honky-tonk dancing since 1977, and its spacious wooden dance floor has seen generations of cowboy boots shuffle across it. Dance sets mix line dances with couples dances like the two-step, and the later it gets, the more swing dancers take the floor.
Best of all, you don’t need to know the steps before you arrive. Weekly lessons welcome total beginners and seasoned dancers alike, and Ladies’ Night on Thursdays and country dance nights on the weekends keep the floor packed. Away from the downtown crowds, it’s a chance to experience Nashville the way it used to be.

The Story
Where the Stars Were Born
Since 1977, Nashville Palace has been Music Valley’s home of country music, a favorite of stars from the Grand Ole Opry and TV shows like Hee Haw and Nashville Now. Legends including George Jones, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Alan Jackson, and Lorrie Morgan have all performed on its stage.
Its most famous story belongs to Randy Travis, who washed dishes and cooked in the kitchen while performing part-time on its stage. The Palace gave him his first real break. Today it still gives rising artists a place to play, while keeping traditional country music and dancing alive far from the neon of Broadway.
“It’s where you go to experience Nashville the way it used to be.”
